Oyster mushrooms are the world’s great recyclers, and this kit is a wonderful project for anyone wanting to learn more about growing mushrooms. Our Book Grow Kit comes with everything you need to get growing; you just need to decide which book. At Caley Brothers HQ, we’re fascinated with the growing ability of Oyster Mushrooms and this kit will show you how they can grow on many different substrates. So here we have created our own small-scale kit to give you a taste of growing mushrooms from scratch.
This fascinating growing technique was pioneered by Adrian Ogden of Gourmet Woodland Mushrooms in 2004.
As part of your Book Grow Kit, we send out the freshest grain spawn – this will need to be kept refrigerated until you’re ready to make your kit - to give you the best chances of growing this will need to be kept refrigerated and used within 4 weeks.
Important Information
Book not included. Any books will need to be less than 10 years old.
Use by date: The spawn within your kit must be used within 4 weeks from receipt. Storage: Please keep your spawn refrigerated till ready to use. During the inoculation period of 21 days store in a dark cupboard at around 17oC.
While growing keep in a bright spot but out of direct sunlight and remember to water daily – PLEASE FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS PROVIDED.

If you do not state a preferred dispatch date we will post at the first available date.
We are unable to ship our mushroom products internationally.

Inside your kit: 100g of fresh spawn on grain, plastic grow bag, full set of growing instruction and growing guidance, sticker, postage box and branded sleeve.
Book not included.
Recycling your kit: All paper and card can be recycled with your standard card recycling. The plastic bag can be cleaned and recycled with your soft plastic recycling. Your used book can be composted or disposed of along with your normal food waste.
