RHS URBAN - Manchester 2024

RHS Urban, the first show of the year.

And we can’t wait to show you our stand and new kits on display

2024 has a lot in store for us and kicking of the show season is the first RHS Urban in the Mayfield Depot in Manchester. A stunning industrial setting in stark contrast to the fields and historical building traditionally associated with the more established RHS shows.

‘Along with the printworks, station and depot, Mayfield has been home to a Victorian bath house, the city’s morgue and innumerable semi-official beer houses. Its history is rich and diverse; troubling and industrious.’

And what the perfect setting for our mushrooms, although dark and damp as the perfect mushroom growing conditions is something we spend the other 360 days of the year trying to dispel.

When we say perfect, what we’re alluding to is mushrooms are perfect for urban growing. Indoor ready to grow kits give you all you need to grow your own harvest of fresh mushrooms regardless of your space, experience or budget.

We have teamed up with Michael Perry (@mrplantgeek) who, after a joining us at one of our workshops, had a wonderful vision of fungi and ferns. So, this year at RHS Urban, you will find mushrooms nestled amongst a display of hostas and ferns. Beautifully displayed in pots made from reclaimed coffee grounds by the team at ELHO and all the plants have come from Wyevale Nurseries.

Companion planting is something we at Caley Brothers happily champion, and given our own use of used coffee grounds, to see them growing side by side in these pots made from recycled coffee ground is just so fitting.

We will have our standard kilo kits on sale, but what we’re really excited about is our new, no frills, just get growing 3 kilo kits. They are easy to set up and ready to gift you an impressive flush of oyster mushrooms. From our classic Grey Oyster mushrooms to our stunning Pink and effervescent Yellow Oyster mushroom kits. We’ve also supersized our Shiitake and King Oyster Mushrooms kits.

Easy to grow, all our instruction can be found online HERE.
